Friday May 8th Fantasy Play

Postby CK on Wed May 06, 2009 10:14 pm

Hello,

Greetings to you all at the Game Cafe, I have recently moved to the area (about a year ago) and have not had the time to play or get out into the hobby since, but am now able to do so. I am currently living in Mission, but will be moving very soon to Independence. I have been playing the various GW games for years now with the most experience in Fantasy, which is also the one that I enjoy the most. I am a member of the GW Kommandoz, and with that will be offering my services in all your Fantasy based desires. A fellow Kommando has asked me to teach him some Fantasy so we will be meeting at the Game Cafe on Friday, May 8th I will be there from about 3:00ish until close and will be prepared to teach any new player the basics of Fantasy play.

I don't care if your mini's are painted, as most of mine are not, and my paints are in storage ;(

Hi there great to hear from you. I will try to make it myself. Have you been posting on frostreaver.net at all? That is the place we communicate the most anymore. But, yes this is a good place to get the word out too.
If I show up most of my stuff will be proxied from 40k figures. Also what point value should I bring? We tried doing 500pts last time. Is that light for a true fantasy experience?
We are trying to get a fantasy beginner league up and running in July in Game Cafe. Except for most of us Fantasy is new. So some experienced advice would be apreciated.

I have not posted on that other one yet, but will do that as well. 500 points is a very light skirmish in fantasy, a battle is usually around 2000 points, but we can do 500-1000 to learn the basics :) what army type are you looking at too cause that makes a difference, 500 points of skaven vs 500 points of chaos looks completely different. Also proxied is fine, but remember that the different armies in fantasy have different base sizes, like the example above, skaven use 20mm bases and chaos use 25mm so counting how many are in base to base, you need to know what base size you would really have etc...

as far as a league going, with the majority of you being beginners, and probably with either no or small armies, i would suggest running a start small and grow type ladder based one or even a warband type of league.

there is the link for warbands, its wrote up for the last edition, but it wouldnt take much to make it work for this edition, since its just army rules specific stuff.
